Deepdale Festival Norfolk: Music & Spoken Word from Local Talent

This weekend spoken word comes to Deepdale Backpackers Festival through billy pilgrim with the heartsease kid. but what is the festival all about? Well, in march 2017 the people of Deepdale camping hosted an event called Hygge, a Danish word meaning life’s simple pleasures. At this event they displayed a whole host of local Norwich and Norfolk talent, with the event focusing on simplicity and the making of new friends as well as the meeting of old.

In September, on the back of this success, deepdale brings another new, and tantalising event to the people of Norwich and Norfolk. There will be music, spoken word and other exciting examples of home grown talent, across three stages. If that isn’t enough to whet the appetite of potential visiters, there are some edible offerings, like, Hog Roasts Burgers, Crepes, pizzas and more. You lovely music heads can wash it all down with fine local ale and gin, everything sounds much better with a full stomach.

One of the highlights of the festival will be Crumbs For Comfort, an indie-Nu-Folk band from Norwich, who have been described as “the easts answer to Seth Lakeman”. You will find them on Saturday night over on the brick barn stage. Another exciting act to grace the Main stage will be UK singer-songwriter Jess Morgan, her acoustic vibes and gentle voice, are perfect for a relaxed Saturday night atmosphere. Check out her awesome song Time Machine below.

Billy Pilgrim with The Heartsease Kid  will be performing their spoken word and digital music act on Saturday at 6pm on the backpackers stage. This Norwich duo challenges audiences to question the accepted norms of modern existence, and their latest demo  is a collection of tracks focused on the themes of heartbreak, self-sabotage and control, and will be showcased at the festival. Underneath you can see the video for their single I’m Afraid.

What have you got planned on Friday the 22nd – Sunday 24th of September? If the answer is nothing much, then get your tickets here, because this is an unmissable weekend in of music, spoken word and so much more.

Stay safe out there,

Billy P.
